Sekiro Achievement Checklist

Overview
⚠ SPOILER ALERT

This guide names every boss, ending, and major story reveal in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Read on only if you're fine knowing what's ahead.

* next to a tab or a highlighted box means that trophy has a missable requirement.

34 trophies total. Fastest route to achieve them all are 2 playthroughs (main run + one New Game+), using save backups for the three loyal endings.

Every trophy

Ticking a box here ticks it on its own tab, and vice versa. Rows that track a whole tab fill in on their own once it's complete — you can also tick them by hand. Click any name to jump there.

Trophies that unlock automatically

No setup needed — just play the story.

Revered BladeBronze
Shinobi ProstheticBronze
ResurrectionBronze
Memorial MobBronze
Lazuline Upgrade *Silver
Lazuline Upgrade is missable. Every source of Lapis Lazuli sits in Fountainhead Palace, which the Shura route never reaches — so stay loyal to Kuro at Owl's tower-roof choice, then spend a piece on the final tier of the Loaded Shuriken, Loaded Axe, Flame Vent or Sabimaru. See Master of the Prosthetic for where the pieces are.
Ashina TravelerGold

"Traveled to all areas of the game." Simpler than it sounds — you just need to have passed through each region once.

Areas required

  • Ashina Reservoir
  • Ashina Outskirts
  • Hirata Estate
  • Ashina Castle
  • Abandoned Dungeon
  • Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo
  • Ashina Depths
  • Sunken Valley
  • Fountainhead Palace *
The only one that's actually missable is Fountainhead Palace. After defeating the Corrupted Monk and Guardian Ape, when Owl asks you to choose atop the Tower Roof, picking the 1st option ends the game early via Shura and you never reach it. Pick the 2nd option, "Break the Iron Code, Stay Loyal to Kuro," and you'll reach Fountainhead automatically as part of the normal story.
Peak Physical StrengthSilver

"Upgraded Vitality and Posture to their limit." Requires every one of the 40 Prayer Beads in the game, turned into 10 necklaces at a Sculptor's Idol. The trophy itself isn't tied to an ending, but 2 of the 40 beads only exist in the alternate Hirata Estate that the Purification questline opens, so you have to run that questline to reach 40.

Prayer Bead locations, in story order

Ashina Outskirts (5)
  • General Naomori Kawarada
  • Chained Ogre
  • General Tenzen Yamauchi
  • Attic chest, Ashina Castle Gate
  • Blazing Bull
Hirata Estate — first visit (3)
  • Shinobi Hunter Enshin of Misen
  • Juzou the Drunkard
  • Hidden wall chest, Hirata Audience Chamber
Ashina Castle — first visit (6)
  • General Kuranosuke Matsumoto
  • Seven Ashina Spears – Shikibu Toshikatsu Yamauchi
  • Lone Shadow Longswordsman
  • Merchant purchase, Abandoned Dungeon Entrance
  • Hidden wall chest, Upper Tower – Antechamber
  • Ashina Elite – Jinsuke Saze
Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo (3)
  • Armored Warrior
  • Long-arm Centipede Sen'un
  • Underwater, Temple Grounds pond
Ashina Depths (6)
  • Snake Eyes Shirahagi
  • Statue head, Poison Pool
  • Tokujiro the Glutton
  • O'rin of the Water
  • Attic shrine, Watermill area
  • Underwater chest, Mibu Village lake
Sunken Valley (4)
  • Open-world pickup, Under-Shrine Valley
  • Snake Eyes Shirafuji
  • Long-arm Centipede Giraffe
  • Underground tunnel bead, Gun Fort
Ashina Castle — after Corrupted Monk & Guardian Ape (5)
  • Undying Guardian Ape — 1st bead
  • Undying Guardian Ape — 2nd bead
  • Chained Ogre, 2nd encounter
  • Lone Shadow Masanaga the Spear-Bearer
  • Lone Shadow Vilehand
Hirata Estate — revisited, Purification path*
  • Lone Shadow, Masanaga the Spear-Bearer *
  • Juzou the Drunkard, 2nd encounter *
Fountainhead Palace — before the Divine Dragon*
  • Sakura Bull
  • Okami Leader Shizu
  • Underwater chest, Great Sakura lake
Ashina Castle — after the Divine Dragon (3)
  • Seven Spears Ashina – Shume Masaji Oniwa
  • Ujinari Mizou
  • Shigekichi of the Red Guard
Missable — you must run the Purification questline. The 2 starred beads sit in the alternate Hirata Estate, opened by praying with the Father's Bell Charm. You can still finish on any non-Shura ending once you have them; Shura locks you out of these 2 plus the Fountainhead and late Ashina Castle beads (32 max on that route).
Ultimate Healing GourdSilver

"Fully upgraded the Healing Gourd." There are exactly 9 Gourd Seeds in the game; each gives one extra charge on top of your starting charge, for 10 total. Bring each one to Emma (Dilapidated Temple, later Kuro's Room) to actually apply the upgrade — finding them isn't enough by itself.

Gourd Seed locations

Ashina Outskirts (3)
  • General Naomori Kawarada
  • Building after the Chained Ogre fight
  • Merchant purchase, near the Gyoubu Oniwa arena
Ashina Castle (2)
  • Treasure chest, Upper Tower – Antechamber
  • Merchant purchase, Dilapidated Temple
Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo (1)
  • Ritual room, praying monks
Sunken Valley (1)
  • Hut, Under-Shrine Valley
Ashina Depths (1)
  • White tree, Mibu Village
Fountainhead Palace (1)
  • Red chest, Palace Grounds *
The Fountainhead seed is missable the same way everything else there is: you must stay loyal to Kuro at Owl's tower-roof choice to ever reach the Palace.
Emma relocates partway through the story — she starts at the Dilapidated Temple, then moves to Kuro's Room in Ashina Castle after you defeat Genichiro/Owl and follow the smoke-signal trail to meet Isshin. If she seems to have vanished, that's where she went.
All Prosthetic ToolsSilver

10 base tools total, found in story order. None of these require a specific ending — but one is time-limited within a normal playthrough.

  1. Loaded Shuriken
  2. Shinobi Firecracker
  3. Flame Vent
  4. Loaded Axe
  5. Mist Raven
  6. Loaded Spear *
  7. Sabimaru
  8. Loaded Umbrella
  9. Divine Abduction
  10. Finger Whistle
Loaded Spear is missable. It's reachable throughout most of the game, but becomes permanently unavailable once you've defeated the Divine Dragon in Fountainhead Palace. Grab it early — it's easy to overlook since it's tucked behind a key-and-gatehouse puzzle in the first Ashina Castle visit.
Master of the ProstheticGold

"Upgraded all Prosthetic Tools to their limit." Needs Lapis Lazuli for the final-tier upgrade of 4 specific tools (Loaded Shuriken, Loaded Axe, Flame Vent, Sabimaru). You need 10 Lapis Lazuli total, but only 6 are obtainable per game cycle — this is why the trophy needs at least 2 playthroughs.

The 6 Lapis Lazuli per cycle *

  1. 1 piece: defeat the Shichimen Warrior at the base of a waterfall in Fountainhead Palace.
  2. 2 pieces: defeat the Demon of Hatred (unlocked after defeating the Divine Dragon, fought back in Ashina Outskirts).
Shura ending gives you zero Lapis Lazuli. Every source above is tied to Fountainhead Palace, which the Shura route never reaches. Get your 6 per cycle on loyal-path playthroughs only.
All Ninjutsu TechniquesSilver

Only 3 techniques exist. Two are automatic story unlocks; the third needs a specific multi-step detour.

  1. Bloodsmoke — automatic, unlocked by defeating Genichiro Ashina (unmissable main boss).
  2. Puppeteer — automatic, unlocked by defeating the Folding Screen Monkeys (unmissable main boss).
  3. Bestowal — requires reaching the Headless Ape.
    1. Get past the Great Serpent in Sunken Valley using Puppeteer on the monkey next to its head — wait for the serpent's head to lower, then use Puppeteer on the monkey to distract it.
    2. This opens the path into Ashina Depths.
    3. Defeat the miniboss guarding the area, then find the Headless Ape (a second, non-mandatory Guardian Ape encounter).
    4. Once you have the Mortal Blade, execute the Headless Ape's corpse with it to receive Bestowal.
This Headless Ape fight is optional if you reached Ashina Depths from a different direction first — but you still need to go back and execute the corpse with the Mortal Blade for the Ninjutsu to unlock, so don't skip it.
Master of the ArtsSilver

"Grasped the inner mysteries of any combat style" — buy out the final skill in any one tree: Shadowrush, Ashina Cross, Living Force or High Monk.

Height of TechniqueGold

"Acquired all skills" — the superset tracked below. Neither is missable, but this is easily the longest grind in the list: roughly 115+ Skill Points across all five trees, with the XP cost per point climbing steeply. Boss-drop skills (One Mind, Dragon Flash, Mibu Breathing Technique, etc.) are not required.

Defeat All BossesMan Without Equal · Gold

A single running checklist of every major boss in the game, and the tab for Man Without Equal ("Defeated all bosses"). The unmissable ones are plain checkboxes — you'll hit them just by playing. Anything that takes extra setup gets its own dropdown with the steps, the same way Bestowal works on the Ninjutsu tab. The Owl (Father) box below also carries Father Surpassed, since that trophy is just the Hirata Estate way of beating Owl.

Unmissable — right on the main path

  1. Gyoubu Masataka Oniwa Bronze
  2. The Phantom Lady Butterfly Bronze
  3. Genichiro Ashina Bronze
  4. Folding Screen Monkeys Bronze
  5. Guardian Ape Bronze
  6. Corrupted Monk (Ashina Depths)
  7. Great Shinobi – Owl Bronze
  8. Divine Dragon Bronze
  9. Sword Saint, Isshin Ashina (loyal path) Silver

Optional / missable — needs setup

Great SerpentBronze
  1. From the first idol in Senpou Temple, Mt. Kongo, head to the cliffs where a small kite-operator enemy stands.
  2. Stealth deathblow it, then use Puppeteer on it — it keeps cranking the kite out.
  3. Grapple the massive tree in the temple courtyard, then grapple onto the extended kite to fling across.
  4. Follow the cliffside path to the Sunken Valley Cavern idol.
  5. Walk onto the wooden plank over the serpent's head, drop down, and deliver 2 Deathblows.
Headless ApeBronze
  1. Get the Mortal Blade and Puppeteer (via Genichiro, then Folding Screen Monkeys).
  2. Use Puppeteer to get past the Great Serpent (box above) into Ashina Depths.
  3. Defeat the miniboss guarding the area, then find the Headless Ape.
  4. Execute its corpse with the Mortal Blade to finish the fight.
Owl (Father) — hidden Purification path · unlocks Father Surpassed Bronze
  1. After Genichiro and the Mortal Blade, exhaust dialogue with Emma and Kuro, then rest at an idol.
  2. Eavesdrop on Kuro near his room.
  3. Talk to Emma at the Castle Tower Lookout and agree to help her.
  4. Rest, talk to Emma again, go to the Old Grave idol, through the arch, talk to her there.
  5. Warp to the Dilapidated Temple, talk to Emma and the Sculptor — receive the Father's Bell Charm.
  6. Pray with the charm at the Kind-Faced Buddha statue to open the alternate Hirata Estate.
  7. Reach the Hidden Temple there and defeat Owl (Father).
Corrupted Monk (True)Bronze
  1. Stay loyal to Kuro at Owl's tower-roof choice, instead of picking Shura.
  2. Progress the story to reach Fountainhead Palace.
  3. Find and defeat the Corrupted Monk fought again there — a different, harder encounter than the Ashina Depths one.
Demon of HatredBronze
  1. Defeat the Divine Dragon first.
  2. Return to Ashina Outskirts.
  3. Find and defeat the Demon of Hatred there.
Great Colored CarpBronze
  1. Reach Fountainhead Palace via the loyal path.
  2. Find it as part of normal exploration once you're in that region.
Isshin Ashina — Shura exclusiveBronze
  1. At Owl's tower-roof choice, pick "Obey the Iron Code, Forsake Kuro."
  2. Defeat Emma, the Gentle Blade (no trophy of her own).
  3. Defeat Isshin Ashina immediately after, in the same encounter.

Why one playthrough isn't enough

The loyal path (Immortal Severance / Purification / Return) takes you through Great Shinobi Owl, the True Corrupted Monk, the Divine Dragon, the Demon of Hatred, the Great Colored Carp, and Sword Saint Isshin Ashina. The Shura path instead replaces the late game with Emma, the Gentle Blade and a different fight against Isshin Ashina. You cannot get both sets of bosses on the same save file without New Game+.

The Four EndingsSilver ×4
SAVE SCAM: Immortal severance, Purification and Return are not mutually exclusive — you can complete all questlines on the same save and choose freely at the final offering, restoring your backup between choices.

Immortal Severance (default)

No extra requirements. Stay loyal to Kuro, defeat Owl and Sword Saint Isshin Ashina, and when offering items to Kuro at the end, give only the Divine Dragon's Tears.

Purification

Must be completed before defeating the Divine Dragon.

  1. After defeating Genichiro and getting the Mortal Blade, exhaust dialogue with Emma and Kuro, then rest at an idol.
  2. Eavesdrop on Kuro (hide near his room) — he'll mention "doing what must be done."
  3. Talk to Emma near the Castle Tower Lookout; agree to help her find a way to save Kuro.
  4. Rest, talk to Emma again — she sends you to the Old Grave idol. Go through the arch to the two graves and talk to her there.
  5. Warp to the Dilapidated Temple, talk to Emma and the Sculptor — receive the Father's Bell Charm.
  6. Use the charm to pray at the Kind-Faced Buddha statue (the one that first sent you to Hirata Estate) — this opens an alternate version of Hirata Estate.
  7. In this alternate Hirata, reach the Hidden Temple and defeat Owl (Father) — an optional boss. Receive the Aromatic Flower.
  8. At the final offering, give Kuro both the Divine Dragon's Tears and the Aromatic Flower.

Dragon's Homecoming (Return)

Must also be completed before defeating the Divine Dragon.

  1. After beating the Folding Screen Monkeys, meet the Divine Child of Rejuvenation in Senpou Temple.
  2. Ask her for Rice repeatedly (leave and return) until she falls ill.
  3. Buy a Persimmon from the Shugendo Memorial Mob vendor, give it to her.
  4. She gives you Rice for Kuro — deliver it to Kuro in Ashina Castle.
  5. Rest, talk to Kuro again for Sweet Rice Balls, eat one in front of him.
  6. Report back to the Divine Child.
  7. Find the Holy Chapter: Infested and give it to her.
  8. Find the Holy Chapter: Dragon's Return (a Senpou Temple cave) and give it to her.
  9. Kill the Great Serpent (Sunken Valley) for Fresh Serpent Viscera.
  10. Get Dried Serpent Viscera from the second serpent's cave in Bodhisattva Valley (needs the Puppeteer ninjutsu to sneak past it).
  11. Give both Viscera to the Divine Child — receive the Frozen Tears.
  12. Defeat Owl atop Ashina Castle and burn the incense afterward when prompted.
  13. At the final offering, give Kuro both the Divine Dragon's Tears and the Frozen Tears.

Shura

Mutually exclusive with all three above — this is a hard fork, not a final-offering choice.

Shura consequences: you never reach Fountainhead Palace, so you lose access to Lapis Lazuli, several Prayer Beads, the Ashina Traveler trophy, and every post-Divine-Dragon boss.
  1. When Owl offers the choice atop Ashina Castle's tower, pick "Obey the Iron Code, Forsake Kuro" (1st option).
  2. This locks you onto a separate route: defeat Emma, the Gentle Blade, then Isshin Ashina (a different fight from Sword Saint Isshin) in the same encounter.
  3. Winning grants the Shura ending automatically.
